The Bulletin of the Veterinary Institute in Pulawy was established in 1957 as the scientific journal of the National Veterinary Research Institute on the initiative of Professor T. Żuliński, who as the first editor-in chief of the new journal acted for eight years. Later the successive editors of the Bulletin were prominent scientists of the Institute: Professor H. Janowski (1965-1968), Professor S. Cąkała (1969-1990) and Professor M. Grundboeck (1990-2001). In 2001 the function of the editor was taken over by Professor J. Roszkowski. For the first forty years the Bulletin published exclusively reports of experimental works completed by researchers of the Institute. Since 1995 the pages of the Bulletin have been gradually accessible also for authors from other Polish and foreign scientific centres. In this way the Bulletin became the international English-language journal publishing original articles on all aspects of veterinary medicine and related sciences. To emphasize the international character of the Bulletin the scientists from France, USA, Slovakia, Russia, Denmark, Germany, Holland and U.K. were invited to act as members of the Advisory Board of the journal. It should be stressed that the Bulletin is on the ISI journal list with impact factor ranging from 0.218 to about 0.500 in particular years. During 54 years of Bulletin existence over 1620 of original papers were published. Currently the Bulletin is distributed to various scientific institutions and organizations from 65 countries. The international position of the Bulletin entitles to encourage the authors from different countries to publish the results of their scientific achievements in our Journal.
